...fascinating to both of us.

A thousand years ago and I was younger Barry used to tell me how much he liked Carnforth, where he lived. Well, on Saturday, all these years later, we had revisited his home and, the area surrounding it, which is all green and quite beautiful, with small villages that have surprising names. And, after taking photo’s of his old home, we’d visited a beauty spot on the coast; then driven into the seaside town of Morecombe, where we’d enjoyed the day.

Come Sunday I had helped Barry with his car {though truth be told, I hadn’t really done much.}

To thank me for my efforts, he’d told me he’d give me a hand with the Beech hedge come Bank Holiday Monday. And, we’d visited Raby Mere awhile, seeing a yellow wagtail, which is quite rare.

Couple that with the Blue-tits Dad and I are watching go in and out the nesting box at speed and, my Mum’s passion for bird watching seems to be alive and well, in me and those around me.

Anyway, come Monday I was working away in the back, having used my favourite pair of shears to do quite a bit of trimming, when Dad had called out that Barry had arrived> I’d gone round to the side of the bungalow and there he’d been, standing there with a battery powered hedge-trimmer in hand. Now, I’d decided to work from eleven till twelve and, with his help that had meant that not only did we get the side finished I’d started, but also the top of the hedge facing the back of the bungalow. Not only had my Father seemed to appreciate him calling to assist me, he’d told Barry that he’d been pleased with the job and, the top looked straight. From my Dad, what he’d said had been a compliment indeed. Well, almost on time, the rain had started, so we’d packed up, had a coffee, then gone out shopping. Come the evening, I had got out the laptop and the little speakers, taken them through to Dad and, we’d watched episode five of ‘Oliver Stone’s Untold History of The USA’, dealing with the McCarthy era, fascinating to both of us.

Pepper Potts

I went out and about on Tuesday, visiting Andy in Liscard. It had been cool to get out and, though the body had protested a little while traveling, I’m pleased I went. On the way to his I’d called in at the corner-shop where Andy had worked, chatting briefly to the two Polish young people there.

“The last time I was here, you’d just started here.” It turns out that had been nearly three years earlier. That had illustrated to me just when I had last got out and about. I’d got home about half an hour before we usually sit to eat. Then just before I went to make tea, I’d looked out the front window and seen the smallest, cutest looking hedge sparrow, to the right of the lawn, in the soil by the small privet hedge. And, I had not seen one in ages and, neither have many in England. So, it was good to see. Come the evening Dad and I had watched an episode of Oliver Stones Untold History of the United States of America, after he’d had his hot drink and chocolate. Come the night I’d not slept well, until the early hours. And, come the next morning as the sun shone, Dad had gone shopping in Ellesmere Port without me… On his return he’d mowed the lawns ‘neath a grey sky and, I recall looking out at him through the back window, thinking, “Now, there’s a happy fellow…” I’d made my chicken casserole, being more pleased with the result than usual: I’d used less veg and liquor, than I have in the past. Then Barry called and, a good evening was had, as I introduced him to my copy of ‘Iron Man 3’, which I’d already seen and enjoyed. I had particularly liked the sequence with Pepper Potts, giving her the role the comics had, eventually. And, I’d liked that, a lot.

Will she ever get to make a proper soufflé?

Come Saturday night I rang Pete, having really enjoyed the night’s ‘Doctor Who’. The pity was that he hadn’t seen the episode, so “wanting to share” was lost, unfortunately. That said, Pete has disliked Matt Smith this Series, whereas I don’t. He reminds me very much of William Hartnell and I’d loved the episode with the kids in the Tardis. It reminded me of some of the stories from my childhood. And then, there was this episode; the last of the series, till November and the fiftieth anniversary special, with John Hurt as The Last Doctor Who. Now, that looks interesting as, Smith’s character is the eleventh incarnation of The Doctor and, thewre can only be so many regenerations and… he says at the end of the show, “And, you’re the only one [regeneration] who could not be called The Doctor…” Now, that’d intrigued me somewhat. I had liked the fact that many answers were provided and, we found out why Clara was ‘The Impossible’ girl’. My only curiosity is whether she’ll ever get to make a proper soufflé?

Well, come Sunday I got some gardening done, while Barry played Grandad. Come Monday I’d got some more done, then had to stop, as I’d sliced into my thumb, while edging the front lawn.

Pete did phone, after watching the latest ‘Doctor Who’, as I’d asked. It turned out that although he’s still not too keen on Matt Smith, he had thought like me, that the show had been the strongest of this season...

quite small, aren’t they?

Tuesday night the rain had poured down heavily, with heavy winds, which had persisted into a sunny blue-sky Wednesday. I went to the doctor’s and gave her two of my recent stories, before discussing my ills. And, as we talked of my neck and my neck and back getting a little worse at times, mt doctor gave me the results of my blood tests from a few weeks earlier. Two points had been highlighted on the p.c’s monitor, so I’d asked what they had referred to, as you would. “Well,,” she’d begun, “it seems there’s an issue with your folates and, your blood cells are a bit big… I’d like you to have some more blood tests, alright?”

“Uh-huh,” I’d replied, as she’d made out the order-form. And, she’d added, “We’ll have to keep an eye on those blood cells…”

Well, I’d found that quite funny so responded, “Isn’t that going to be a bit awkward?”

She’d looked at me, her face betraying her curiosity..

“Well, blood cells are quite small, aren’t they?” I’d told her, with a smile.

I'd slept well...

On Sunday Barry and I went out and about shopping, as it rained ‘neath grey skies. My back had started to ache badstyle, although I’ve no idea what set it off. Come Monday the weather was far better, but my back wasn’t, which had hurt like hell. I hadn’t even wanted to get out of bed, it had been that bad. That said, I had done as I do, just at a much slower rate. I had gone to the shops, I had done some gardening and, helped Dad with the evening meal. And come bedtime, I’d got to sleep late, as ever; but I’d slept well…

Winnie The Pooh would've liked...

02:27 May 12 2013

Winnie The Pooh would have liked Thursday; it’d been a blustery day, albeit with showers.

I had risen to help Dad with the housework, then gone out for milk and get some honey and my meds, rather enjoying the wind and, the clouds. On my return home I got raedy for the project, slowly. And, I had expected the wind and the rest, after all, it’d been Thursday and, the weather’s almost always rotten, for my journeying to the project. The night had gone well, though there’s few volunteers there currently and, that had led to Roger thanking me for my turning up, more than once. When I got home I was well cream-crackered, physically.

Barry called down and we went shopping, to Runcon, Ellesmereport and New Ferry, in other words, all over the Wirral, on a day of very mixed weather. Either there were showers, or hail, with grey skies, or sun, blues skies and heavy wind; or the wind dropped awhile and, it had been very warm, Once home, I made tea, then rested awhile, while I recorded Doctor Who. I had awoken to the sound of heavy wind outside my window. I then made Dad’s drink, before typing awhile…

... so he got his honey-milk drink.

Come Bank Holiday Monday Barry called, with the intention of a run-out to New Brighton. But, the day being what it was, everyone and their dog was out and, several of the roads were gridlocked. Anyway, we had ended up trundling down to Moreton shore, to use the toilets and, check out the shack. But, the queue at the shack rendered that prospect moot, although we had got a few good photo’s, of the crowds. Well, we drove from the toilets to B&Q in Bidston and got our eats from, The Lunch Box, a blue van parked up outside. The service was as good as at the shack and the scran right nice. And, from what I heard, the price ws comparable. “Now all we have to,” said Barry, “is find another place like this, nearer Ellesmere Port.” The weather’s been warm and sunny, though the lawns would like some rain; but Dad and I both think the weathers going to be like 2012, with all that means, late Spring, late dry Summer wet Autumn and Winter. That said, I think the late Spring and the increased pollen count is what’s making my sinus as problematic as they are… it only started being this bad in 2012.

Wednesday morning the skies were cloudy, promising rain that never came. I’d knelt for hours, doing weeding the border at the side of the drive, as my Mother would have done so. The weather had been idea, for me. I had gone for a walk though and, got home to make the evening meal, then rest my back and knees awhile, before typing… At 8:50 my dad knocked on my door, quietly: “It’s ten to nine.” Now this had two actions; it acted as a warning that the documentary about the bankers that I wanted to see with Dad, would be on soon; it also reminded me that if I were to makes Dad’s evening drink before then, I’d better move... so I had and, he got his honey-milk drink.

...and, the lawn needs rain.

Thursday was a sunny day, in many respects. I walked to the busstop catch my bus to the dole. While I did waited I had debated whether to light up a smoke, or not. After a few minutes I looked up the road and seen no bus, so had taken my tin and lighter out. I had put the rollie to my lips, then went to light it. It was as I went to light it that I had looked up and, there had been my bus coming. Once at the dole, they were nice to me, which had been a surprise, although it could have been down to the fact that I’m having problems with Ingeus, the work programme provider. Either way, the young lady dealing with me had been pleasant, smiley and, efficient. I left there and went to the busstop on the main road, to get my bus home. While I did waited I had debated whether to light up a smoke, or not. After a few minutes I looked up the road and seen no bus, so had taken my tin and lighter out. I had put the rollie to my lips, then went to light it. It was as I went to light it that I had looked up and, there had been my bus coming. I’d been just like before. Come the evening I went to voluntary work and left feeling good, but extremely tired.

I had not slept well through the night and finally awoke feeling as though I’d only had a few hours sleep, which was probably accurate. I got up and ready then joined Dad for shopping, on a day that promised showers, yet did not deliver and, the lawn needs rain.

Much of Wednesday...

23:57 May 01 2013
Times Read: 654

Much of Wednesday was spent panicking as to whether or not I could get the tower working, Grant you, I did get some fresh air, with a walk to get the radio times and milk, although truth be told, getting the tower going before I’d got to Karl’s had been important to me and, thankfully I’d been successful – in effect, I earned the headache I left Karl’s with; having found out that I had not impressed him, as I’d hoped I might. I did though, leave his with a copy of ‘Silent Hill: Revelation.’

I just didn't get that movie- it made no sense to me whatsoever. But Scott loved it. Go figure.
